We’ve been responsible for the production and mixing of MGMT's debut EP Time to Pretend, creating the sound identity of Spotify, MTV, and NBCUniversal, the original music, sound design and mix in ads for major brands like Apple, Google, Hershey's, and Pepsi, the original score for AAA video games Just Cause 3 and Just Cause 4, the Cinema Eye nominated score and sound design for official SXSW Film Festival selection Mateo, and many more. In each case, our holistic approach to audio blurs the lines between the conventional roles of music and sound design, blending genres, influences, and historical context to create truly immersive experiences.
Founder David Perlick-Molinari and his brother Robert have toured the world extensively as French Horn Rebellion, collaborating with artists near and far, including St. Lucia, The Knocks, JD Samson, and Grammy Award-winning artist Jody Watley. Likewise, partner Deidre Muro founded bands Savoir Adore and Deidre & the Dark, finding success with songs like “Dreamers” (featured in the PES 2013 video game) and “Classic Girl” (used in numerous TV shows and commercials including Forever 21, New York & Company, Hello Kitty, Gallery Girls, and ShopStyle).
In 2017, pooling our years of experience as recording artists, producers, and composers, we partnered with long-time collaborator Robert Perlick-Molinari to create a new label division of YouTooCanWoo - releasing work from French Horn Rebellion, Violet Sands, Deidre & the Dark, and Pink Flamingo Rhythm Revue. Now, we’re taking another big step. Tapping into the role we've played over the years in the international indie dance scene, we’re creating a hub for it in Brooklyn with the launch of toucan sounds, our new indie disco and house imprint curated by French Horn Rebellion.
DAVID PERLICK-MOLINARI, FOUNDER | CHIEF CREATIVE DIRECTOR | COMPOSER/PRODUCER
David’s approach to audio often blurs the conventional roles of musical composition, sound design and mix engineering. Building on a childhood passion of writing music and recording technology, David studied music theory and composition at New York University, then went on to produce MGMT's debut EP Time to Pretend, he founded the group French Horn Rebellion with his brother Robert, and toured the world extensively. His interests expanded to projects and fields where music served an important narrative role especially in collaboration with visuals. David’s work to picture ranges from the complete audio branding of MTV, Spotify and NBCUniversal to the Cinema Eye Honors-nominated score and sound design for official SXSW Film Festival selection Mateo. In addition to an impressive portfolio of commercial work for Apple, Google and IBM he writes, records, produces and performs with music groups inside his studio’s label of new and emerging recording artists.
